Materials

 

Wide Width Tape (colored masking or duct tape)

 

Fly Swatters - 2-4 per staff

 

 

 

Directions

 

1. Create a large staff on the wall or board (see photo on website listed above).  Decide whether it will be treble or bass

clef staff (the clef sign does not need to be placed on the staff).

 

2. Split students into two teams.

 

3. Give one member from each team a fly swatter and have them come up to the staff.

 

4. Teacher names a note.

 

5. The students must "swat" the note on the staff.  Important: Students should leave the fly swatter head against the wall

(no rebound).

 

6. The first person to swat the correct note receives a point.

 

7. Students rotate going up to the staff.

 

8. Points are tally marks, and there is one point for each round.
