Secondary General Music Lesson Ideas
Pandora Activity Lesson
Lesson Plan
1. Ask students to take out a piece of paper and a writing utensil.
2. Activity Directions: Tell the students you are going to play several pieces of music. For each, they are to write
down any musical terms and/or words to describe what they hear that differentiates each song from the
previous. Optional: you may have them give a "thumbs up" or "thumbls down" like found on Pandora.
3. Play each music excerpt found below from left to right, top to bottom.
4. After the final excerpt, ask the students to give you 2-3 musical terms and/or words for each excerpt. Write
these on the board.
5. For any musical term and/or word, make sure the students:
a. Know the definition (if a musical term)
b. Assign a musical term if appropriate (if a non-music word)
6. Students should write these musical terms and definitions on their paper throughout the discussion.
