~ Beat

Lesson Sequence
1. Play No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem as students are finding their seats.
2. Introduce the term Beat and ask students to write the definition in their CNW.
Definition: Beat refers to the underlying pulse of the music.
When you tap your foot to music at a steady pace, you are tapping the beat. Let's listen to a piece of music see if you can tap the
steady beat.
3. Almost all music has a steady, recurring beat to it; however, the steady beat is sometimes easier to "hear" and/or feel in some music
more so than others. Let's listen to a few pieces of music and see if you can tap the steady beat for each.
