Preliminary Step - Watch Stomp video so students are familiar with the "stomp" concept.
Materials
* A pair of rhythm sticks for every student.
* A copy of the handout for each student (click here). This is an exact copy of what is listed below.
Directions
1. Choose a theme (e.g., sports, food animals, TV, seasons, a holiday etc.). Write the theme below.
2. Think of a phrase or short sentence that you associate with your chosen theme. Write the phrase below.
3. Notate the above phrase rhythmically below.
4. Choose a time signature of 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, or 6/8 that works with the rhythm written above. List the chosen time signature

5. Place bar lines in the above rhythm to comply with the number of beats in the chosen time signature. How many

22. Decide which group members will play each rhythm and who will be the conductor.
23. Practice playing your group's composition with the conductor setting the tempo. You may need to practice several
times.
